Dan Haugen is an award-winning freelance journalist who writes about business, technology and environmental issues.
As a reporter for the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, Haugen won an investigative award for a story about gaps in Iowa’s monitoring of water quality in its rivers and streams. At the Sioux Falls Argus Leader in South Dakota he covered crime and courts, including a series on perceived disparities between whites and American Indians in the setting of judicial bail amounts.
